The perfect blend of her hybrid origins makes Buenos Aires a unique town. A city that offers the architectonic beauty of its sumptuous past, Buenos Aires boasts not only the exciting nightlife of a cosmopolitan city, but also the sensuality and rhythm of her Latin American roots. These characteristics result in an intense artistic production and cultural activity. arteBA, the most visited cultural event in Buenos Aires city and the topmost in Latin America condenses all this energy and becomes both a tourism magnet and a business center.
The fair is visited by over a 100,000 people, and among them are art collectors and representatives from the world of art, eager to discover different proposals not to be found in any other contemporary art event.
This is then the moment for the galleries to display their best Latin American art pieces, their collection pieces, as it is also the right time for those new spaces to feature those artists enrolled in the latest trends. Over 800 Latin American artists feature their work during this outstanding cultural event.
arteBA produces a unique combination of an art fair with an exhibition platform with innovative proposals of the highest quality. This year we present the arteBA Petrobras Prize for the Visual Arts—a highly expected distinction and known to be one of the most controversial in this area; the Open Space, where works of a high impact are exhibited in a space especially devoted to large format pieces or installations; then, the Barrio Joven Chandon ( Chandon Young Quarter)—meant for the most audacious and innovative proposals in the artistic Latin American production; and Video Space sponsored by Converse, devoted to the most widely acclaimed video art works and the Homage to the Great Masters—sponsored by Banco Galicia and meant to celebrate three fundamental Argentine artists.
