NY Arts MagazinePortugal Presents: Arte Lisboa
This coming 23–27 November, ARTE LISBOA will take place at the Feira Internacional de Lisboa (FIL) in Parque das Nações, Lisbon.
Over the last 11 years of the contemporary art fair, the organizers have worked hard to carve out a place in both the Portuguese and international markets by adding events to the program to enhance its quality and drawing power and by exploiting its role as a meeting place and the high point of the fine arts in Portugal.
Quickly strengthening the international calendar of art events, ARTE LISBOA has been declared a great event attracting more than 20.000 visitors annually. ARTE LISBOA is recognized as a Fair of high quality with the presence of some of the best national and international galleries and is taking place in a country experiencing great artistic results mixing established artists such as Helena Almeida, Pedro Cabrita Reis and Julião Sarmento with a powerful generation of multidisciplinary and world artists. The presence of the Portuguese galleries at ARTE LISBOA have allowed for the maturity and strengthening of the Fair. The event is the only one of its type in Portugal and attracts exhibitors from Germany, Hungary, Mexico, Brazil, Mozambique, Korea and especially Spain, confirming the existence of an Iberian contemporary art market.
In past editions, ARTE LISBOA successfully explored its role turning the Fair into a meeting point for the organization of cycles of debates bringing together art critics, museum directors, exhibition curators, international artists and gallery owners, or Commissioned Programs with curators of renowned international fame such as Isabel Carlos, Paco Barragán, Óscar Alonso Molina and Filipa Oliveira.
This year a series of debates will be organized in collaboration with DARDO and David Barro is the Curator of PROJECTS section “WAR ROOM”.
